Event #3
Championship in Boston
NOVEMBER 22nd, 2011:
2011 Reserve Cup Challenge Finals
6 teams and 2 wildcard teams from the 6 New England states will meet at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to do battle on the topics of financial literacy and economics to see who will emerge as the 2011 Reserve Cup Challenge Champion!
2011 Reserve Cup Challenge Tournament
For five years now, each November, representative high schools, one from each New England state, have assembled at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to compete for the Reserve Cup. The student teams participate in a quiz show format that tests their knowledge in a variety of financial matters specifically financial literacy, economic education, and personal finance.
The competition is conducted in front of a studio audience of fellow students.
As the last two previous years, the Reserve Cup Challenge will also be turning to internet technology to increase student involvement. We will be looking for 15 high school teams from each of five New England states to register to participate in elimination rounds that will eventually produce the state's representative team at this year's Reserve Cup Championship in Boston.
Here's how it will work. Once your state quota of 15 teams have registered via the Registration Form on this website, your team will then participate in a scheduled live interactive web cast quiz event (see Schedule for details).
We will ask your team 10 multiple choice questions on the topic of financial literacy each worth 10 points, the top five teams will then move on to the semi-final event.
The semi-final event will also be a live interactive webcast quiz, and once again, we will ask your team 10 multiple choice questions on the topic of financial literacy, each worth 10 points, with the team scoring the most points going on to represent your state in the 2011 Reserve Cup Challenge Championship!
Assemble Your Team
Teachers...if you are interested in having a student team from your school participate in the 2011 Reserve Cup Challenge please register today! You do not need to know the students names to register.
Each team will be comprised of 4 students and 1 alternate (a replacement in case a team member becomes sick or is unable to attend any Cup event). Additionally, a teacher must sign up to supervise the students and, if need be, accompany them to the Championship in Boston.
Remember, your team will have to participate in potentially two live web-based Quiz events, and if your team advances, the Championship in Boston.
Questions which will be posed to participating teams in the 2011 Reserve Cup Challenge will cover a variety of financial matters specifically financial literacy, economic education, and personal finance. Study up and be ready!
NOTE: We will be closing registration off at 15 schools per state. So, if you wish to have your students participate, we encourage you to sign-up today! Once your registration has been accepted you will be notified by e-mail and your team listed on this web site.
